Temporary protection extended for Ukrainians in the EU: how long will it last?

The European Union has extended temporary protection for Ukrainians on its territory. It will last until March 2027.
This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
The temporary protection has been extended for another year. It was supposed to be valid until March 2026, and from now on it will be valid until March 2027.

After the temporary protection ends, Ukrainian citizens will need to be able to stay in their countries of residence under a different status, or return to Ukraine.
Currently, about 5 million Ukrainians are under temporary protection in EU countries. The largest number of them lives in Germany - more than 1.2 million people.
