Returning to civilian life can be a real challenge for veterans. Dmytro Lubinets comments on some practical points.

Apply for benefits

The Ombudsman advises applying for benefits and status immediately after returning from war. This makes various support programs, medical services, social guarantees, grant programs available.

Value experience

Don't be shy about talking your strengths during employment. Value your own experience, emphasize that you have stress resistance, are able to work in a team, etc.

Seek psychological help

Currently, various psychological support programs are available for veterans. Dmytro Lubinets advises to definitely talk to a psychologist or psychotherapist. This is not a manifestation of weakness, but, on the contrary, taking care of yourself. Specialists will help you adapt to civilian life and overcome trauma.

Find like-minded people

It is important to maintain social connections. You don't need to close yourself off, get to know people. This will help you adapt and help prevent loneliness.

Know your rights

It is important to study the legislation to know about your rights and opportunities.
