A therapist for yourself: a course on psychological self-help will appear on Prometheus

The target audience of the course is, first of all, veterans. This course is designed for people who want to overcome the effects of war and take care of their mental health. It will be possible to view it from January 30, 2023.

You can find a self-help course on the Prometheus platform. The course is absolutely free. Its developer is the Veteran Hub public organization.

Who will benefit from the course

The authors note that the course will be needed by those who:

  • wants to know about the effects of war on his mental health,

  • learn about techniques that will help overcome anxiety, anger, apathy, tame terrible memories, etc.,

  • gain skills in managing stress and observing one's own thoughts.

IMPORTANTLY. The course is intended for veterans who are currently not participating in combat operations and are in relative safety.

PAY ATTENTION. The course is suitable not only for veterans, but also for their family members, as well as for everyone who wants to improve their psychological state.

"This course is not a panacea – rather, it is a guide. It will tell you where and how to move in order to restore the quality of your life. However, if you experience difficulty with any of the techniques presented in the course, you can always seek professional help from a psychotherapist", – noted on the Prometheus platform.

The author and host of the course is Olena Siguta, psychotherapist of the NGO "PPR "Free Choice".

Course program

The course consists of 5 modules. The topics of the modules are as follows:

  1. When anxiety prevents you from breathing and thinking

  2. When apathy and I can do nothing

  3. When memories cover up

  4. When I or someone around me shows excessive irritation or aggression
