Italy, Latvia, Germany and beyond: 8 impressive projects for young people abroad

If you are between 18 and 30 years old, you dream of living abroad for free and gaining an incredible social experience – immediately apply for one of the international projects.


YouthFutureUA team and NGO Pangeya Ultima offer 8 excellent projects in different European countries. The topics are very different, so you can find something for yourself here.


Projects in Latvia

In the Latvian city of Ruijena, 4 projects are offered at once. Choose the one where you can realize your potential.

  • Location: Ruyena

  • Deadline: as soon as possible

  • Duration of each project: 10 months

Project description:


1. "Work at the youth center"

Volunteers will work with the youth of Ruijena in the youth center, which receives 15 – 20 young men and women every day. They come to the center to spend free time after school or between classes.

2. "Working with the elderly in a nursing home"

The main goal of the project is to involve young people in active social activities and promote a tolerant attitude towards the elderly. Volunteers will help older people maintain an active lifestyle and promote communication between different generations.

3. "Working at a center for the care of the elderly"

Volunteers will work in the small village of Lode, in the center for the elderly. Their duty will be to help the elderly in various workshops, which will give an opportunity to learn various crafts and other skills.

4. "Media work in a youth organization"

Volunteers will work in the field of media, photography, videography, create posters and radio broadcasts.


Profile of a potential participant:

  • 18 – 30 years old;

  • basic level of English language proficiency;

  • lack of previous ESC volunteering experience;

  • interest in the topic of one of the projects.

Financing: the project is financed by the European Solidarity Corps program. All costs for insurance, accommodation, food, transport costs are covered by the conditions stipulated by the program. Pocket money is also issued.

Project in Italy


Topic: "Work in the field of non-formal education on an educational farm"

  • Start: mid-October 2022, duration – 12 months

  • Where: Passignano sul Trasimeno, Italy

  • Deadline: September 18

Host organization: Associazione Kora is an organization that promotes environmental, intercultural and social awareness through youth projects. It is located in the school farm La Buona Terra, the first educational farm in Italy, with more than 30 years of experience working with children, young people and adults of all ages. La Buona Terra produces organic olive oil, essential oils of various aromatic herbs and offers environmental education.

Tasks for volunteers are mainly help and support of the organization's employees in the following areas:

  • conducting informal educational events for various groups and projects;

  • participation in the activities of local public organizations;

  • administrative tasks;

  • logistic tasks;

  • promotion of projects through the website and social networks;

  • ordinary routine tasks (cooking food, maintaining order in common areas, cleaning, taking garbage to the recycling center, taking care of the garden, bringing firewood for heating, etc.).

Member profile:

  • 23 – 30 years old;

  • interest in learning Italian,

  • willingness to live in an intercultural environment in a rural area, where the nearest town is 20 minutes away on foot;

  • availability of time management skills, patience, openness, adaptability, teamwork;

  • basic level of English language proficiency;

  • compliance with the applicable norms according to the laws of Italy.

Financing: the project is financed by the European Solidarity Corps program. All costs for insurance, accommodation, food (mostly vegetarian and vegan), Italian language course, transport costs are covered by the conditions stipulated by the program. Pocket money in the amount of 5 euros per day is also issued.

Projects in Austria


1. Project topic: "Ensuring the integration of young refugees in Austria"

  • When: October 2022 – June 2023 (dates subject to change)

  • Where: Graz (center of the federal state of Styria), Austria

  • Deadline: ASAP

Host organization: InterAktion – Verein für ein interkulturelles Zusammenleben is a non-profit organization dealing with human rights, sustainable development and integration. InterAktion members support young people on their way to refugee status in Styria and organize leisure activities for them.


Tasks for volunteers:

  • support of the team in its daily activities;

  • leisure activities for young refugees.

Member profile:

  • 18 – 30 years old;

  • preference is given to the male article;

  • an active, proactive and mature person;

  • the desire to develop.

Financing: the project is financed by the European Solidarity Corps program. All costs for insurance, accommodation (private room), meals (€8 per day), international and local transport costs are covered by the terms and conditions of the program. Pocket money in the amount of 5 euros per day is also issued.

2. Project topic: "Volunteering in a community center"

  • When: October 2022 – June 2023 (dates subject to change)

  • Where: Graz (center of the federal state of Styria), Austria

  • Deadline: ASAP

Host organization: Community Center NaNet offers residents of the Floß-Lend district in Graz a space to exchange information and participate in community activities.


Tasks for volunteers:

  • team support in organizing community events;

  • communication with people from different strata of society and different generations;

  • activity on platforms of sustainable development and food sharing in the direction of reducing food waste.

Member profile:

  • 18 – 30 years old;

  • availability of flexible skills (openness, communication, initiative, self-organization and group work);

  • availability of hard skills (experience with the Office package and social networks, knowledge of pedagogical and social work);

  • motivation to learn German.

Financing: the project is financed by the European Solidarity Corps program. All costs for insurance, accommodation (private room), food (250 euros per month), transport costs are covered by the conditions stipulated by the program. Pocket money in the amount of 150 euros per month is also issued.

Project in Germany


Project topic: "Work in a children's creative studio"

  • When: 03.10.2022 - 30.04.2023

  • Where: Bremen, Germany

  • Deadline: September 18

Host organization: Kultur Vor Ort e.V. Its main idea is to use art and culture as a way for young people to develop new skills, express themselves and build self-confidence.


The organization works mainly with children aged 7 – 16, as well as teenagers with disabilities. Most of them have a migration background. The center of the organization consists of an art studio with a gallery, a cafe, a children's and youth area, artists' workshops, an educational center and a mobile art studio. Visitors are offered daily workshops in wood, clay, printing and free design workshops.


Tasks for the volunteer:

  • work with children's groups in an art studio;

  • support, help and coordination of children in their individual and team artistic work, in their daily tasks;

  • participation in projects with other organizations cooperating with the art studio;

  • planning and conducting events together with other volunteers for the community of Bremen.

Member profile:

  • 18 – 30 years old;

  • having a level (minimum A2) of German and English and willingness to improve their knowledge of a foreign language;

  • patience, willingness to learn, openness to ask questions and lack of fear of "getting your hands dirty";

  • the ability to interact both with children and with the team;

  • availability of vaccination against COVID 19 and measles and the ability to provide a certificate of criminal record;

  • passion for art;

  • creativity and motivation for positive changes in society.

Financing: the project is financed by the European Solidarity Corps program. All costs for insurance, accommodation (a separate room in an apartment with 4 other volunteers), food (€246 per month), mentoring support, German language course, transport costs are covered by the terms and conditions of the program. Pocket money is also issued (150 euros per month).
