The reconstruction of the schools will be carried out by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) within the aid package allocated by the European Union.

Ultimately, they plan to create a safe environment for 20,000 students affected by the war.

Which schools will be restored first

So far, 8 schools have been identified in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. They will be restored immediately.

What will be done:

  • Windows and doors will be replaced.

  • Will remove damage from blast waves.

"We strive to restore a sense of normality and stability in the lives of children affected by the war. The EU strongly supports Ukrainians in rebuilding schools, reviving dreams and giving children hope for a brighter future", – said Claudia Amaral, head of the European Commission's Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine.
